About Us and our History

The property now known as Perryville Marina started out as a cornfield belonging to S. S. Burton. In the late forties when Kentucky Lake was flooded to be controlled by dams, Sam's son, A. A. Burton decided to replace the cornfield with the property's first marina. R. C. "Bob" McCauley must have agreed that the marina was a good idea because he bought out the Burtons in 1956.

In 1959 G. G. Lifsey went to work at the marina.  After working for the McCauleys for a few years he leased the property in 1961. Wanting to make a bigger and better marina, Mr. Lifsey was able to acquire some docks and a barge which became the ship's store. He bought the docks and barge and towed them from Beech River. In 1968 more houseboat slips were added, further increasing the size of the facility.

In 1981 Mr. Lifsey became ill and died in 1984. His son took over and ran the marina from 1984 till 1988 when he sold it to Hammond, Dyer and Redfern. The marina was run by Michael Redfern until 2001 when the present company took over ownership.

The new owners disposed of the old barge and tore out the old docks known as pier 4, building a new pier to take it's place. An addition was also added to pier 3 to accommodate the larger boats.

The marina now consist of 188 boat slips, 70 campsites some of which are riverfront while others are convenient to the street and to the marina. There are also 32 boathouse slips on the property. This unique little community delights most everyone.

Perryville Marina is located on the beautiful Tennessee River, on the Southern end of Kentucky Lake at mile marker 135, just south of the Alvin C. York Bridge on Highway 412. By road, 7 miles East of Parsons, Tennessee on 412. The Marina is an easy one hour and forty five minute drive from Nashville on I-40
